About our network

Connectivity

It's true what they say - to get ahead you need to have the right connections. With this in mind we made sure that we chose exactly those connections that would ensure that our network is fast and resilient. Our customers can be assured that their web sites and servers are available from anywhere in the world at the best speed possible.

Our carriers were chosen based upon their reputations for delivering a high quality service and their ability to provide fast connectivity to all points of the globe via their own fully managed networks.

Multiple Tier 1 transit feeds

Our connectivity is routed acrtoss our MPLS enabled network and out of our own fully autonomous network infrastructure and is fed by multiple tier 1 carriers - ultimate peice of mind backed by a 100% uptime guarantee.

Additional Tier 2 transit feeds

As well as our direct Tier 1 transit we also take additional Tier 2 transit from a number of network operators. This provides additional access to their carrier mix and network routes.

Peering

We peer with other ISPs at the following locations as well as via private peering arrangements.

  • LINX
  • Edge IX
  • AMS-IX

  • Are you an ISP that wants to peer with us? We operate an open peering policy - email peering@hostinguk.net for details.

Bandwidth to spare

As well as having multiple carriers we make sure that we have more than enough bandwidth to meet our needs and those of our customers.

Our network policy is always to maintain sufficient bandwidth in reserve so that should we lose any one of our main transit feeds we would still have enough capacity from our other transit connections without relying on peering and yet still have reserve bandwidth.

Resilient network infrastructure

To build a resilient network you need to make sure that the points of failure are eliminated.

As well as taking multiple feeds from multiple carriers we make sure that the routing and network infrastructure within our network is such that should a router fail, for example, the others will take over it's roles instantly.

We own and operate our own dark fibre network which links our datacentres and provides full resilience to each of those locations.

Monitored network

Our network is monitored around the clock. We make sure that we know the minute something isn't right and react to ensure it doesn't become a problem.

Uptime - 100%

Our transit network is designed to achieve 100% uptime which for our IP transit customers we back this up with a solid SLA with service refunds incorporated.
